Kirchheim. The Traffic Safety and Special Services Directorate of the Eastern Hesse Police Headquarters, in cooperation with the 'Hessen Trucker Stammtisch', is hosting another large-scale action day on Wednesday (17.09.) on the grounds of the SVG truck stop in Kirchheim, from 10 am to 4 pm. This event offers interested parties the opportunity to observe commercial goods and passenger traffic police controls up close.

The main focuses of the action day are the inspection of legally prescribed driving and rest times of the deployed personnel, the dimensions and weights of the vehicles, the technical condition of the vehicles, and the enforcement of loading securing regulations. The fitness to drive and personal qualifications of the vehicle drivers will also be part of the controls.

Another focus of the action day is the topic of 'distraction' in road traffic. The improper use of information and communication technology during driving, as well as secondary activities such as eating, listening to loud music, or reading news while driving, not only prolong reaction times but are also often the main causes of traffic accidents and can have serious consequences. Therefore, the police will also carry out targeted controls in this area to penalize violations and raise awareness among road users.

A mobile axle load scale of the Bad Hersfeld police highway station will also be present at the control site to ensure the weighing of the controlled vehicles.

In addition to specialized traffic enforcement officers from the Eastern Hesse Police Headquarters, thematically focused control forces from neighboring police headquarters, forces from the Federal Office for Logistics and Mobility, the customs office, and employees of the Kassel government presidency will also be present at the control site.

All persons interested in the 'Hessen Trucker Stammtisch' action day are cordially invited to visit the site to get an impression of the heavy goods vehicle controls.

Personal exchange between vehicle drivers, control personnel, guests, and the press will also be a focus of the control day and should not be neglected.

Also expected are 35 professional truck drivers from the Werner-von-Siemens School in Wetzlar, who will have the opportunity to observe the control forces at work on this day.

Info for media representatives:

Interested media representatives are also cordially invited to come and report on the action day. However, active patrol accompaniment will not be possible on this day.

For better planning and further coordination, we kindly ask you to register by email at **[email protected]** or by phone at 0661/105-1099 by latest Tuesday (16.09.), 4 pm.
