Ostfeld: Federal Criminal Police Office Campus Enters Next Phase

Wiesbaden's new BKA campus to unite 5,000 staff under one roof

Wiesbaden's emerging district, currently known by its planning title "Ostfeld," continues to take shape: The city invites residents to an information evening on May 12 regarding the planned Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) campus. Citizens will gain insights, have the opportunity to ask questions, and see how concrete plans are transforming a new urban quarter.

Information Evening on BKA Construction: City Presents Current Planning Status for "Ostfeld"

As the Ostfeld planning district in Wiesbaden takes clearer form, posters across the city announce the next steps: On Tuesday, May 12, Erbenheim Civic Center will open its doors for an information evening on the new BKA headquarters. Those curious about how open fields will become a state-of-the-art campus can find answers—and pose their own questions.

Currently, the Federal Criminal Police Office operates across multiple scattered locations. Commuting between sites wastes time, and coordination strains resources. That is set to change. The planned campus north of the A66 highway will consolidate what is now fragmented. With over 5,000 employees already working in Wiesbaden, the Ostfeld development will bring them together—both physically and operationally.

The vision: shorter commutes, modern workspaces, and enhanced collaboration. An agency that doesn't just react but redefines its structure. Or, put sharply: less shuttling between buildings, more teamwork at a single table.

Planning Underway—Europe Is Watching

While a Europe-wide procurement process lays the groundwork for the master plan, the city and its partners are finalizing the zoning regulations. The Urban Planning Office, SEG (Wiesbaden's economic development agency), the BKA, Hessen's State Construction and Real Estate Agency, and the Federal Real Estate Agency (BImA) are working in lockstep.

Though much of the project still exists only on paper and drafting tables, that's precisely what makes it compelling. At the Erbenheim Civic Center, architects and landscape planners will present the latest progress. Afterward, the floor opens to residents—questions are not just welcome, they're expected (and likely plentiful).

A Landmark in Urban Development

More than just a construction project, the new Ostfeld district and the BKA campus represent a bold statement for the city. The BKA has shaped Wiesbaden for decades—and is here to stay. A modern campus will strengthen the location, create opportunities, and sustainably transform Ostfeld.

In other words: This isn't just another government complex. It's a piece of the city of tomorrow.
