Porsche Carrera GT Smashes Auction Records Three Times in 2026

The Porsche Carrera GT has broken auction records three times in 2026. Rare examples of the supercar sold for millions, far exceeding their original price. One model even fetched over $6.7 million at a high-profile sale.

The Carrera GT began as a cancelled racing project called LMP 2000. Porsche later turned it into a road-legal supercar with a 5.7-litre V-10 engine. This powerplant produces 605 horsepower and 435 ft lbs of torque, allowing a zero-to-60 mph sprint in under four seconds. Its top speed reaches 205 mph.

At launch, buyers could choose from just five colours and limited interior options. The car’s original price was around $440,000, but values have soared since. Before 2026, the highest public auction price for a Carrera GT stood at $2.2 million. This year, three models shattered that record. A Seal Grey Metallic version sold for $3.085 million at RM Sotheby’s Arizona Car Week. Later, a GT Silver Metallic example from the Drift Capital Collection went for $3.305 million in Miami. The most expensive was a Gulf Blue paint-to-sample car, which fetched $6.715 million at Broad Arrow’s Amelia Island sale.

The Carrera GT’s auction prices in 2026 highlight its growing status as a collector’s item. Each record-breaking sale reflects strong demand for rare, high-performance Porsches. The supercar’s racing heritage and limited production continue to drive its value upward.
