The low position of the sun may have caused a traffic accident that occurred on Friday evening around 5:39 PM on Kesselstadter Street, near the wastewater treatment plant. A 60-year-old man from Hanau on a bicycle and a 29-year-old Suzuki rider from Maintal were traveling one behind the other in the direction of Maintal. At the height of the entrance to the wastewater treatment plant, the Hanau resident wanted to turn left. The Maintal resident noticed this too late and touched the bicycle's handlebar, causing the cyclist to fall and sustain minor injuries. The Suzuki rider also fell and slid several meters across the opposite lane, sustaining severe injuries that required him to be taken to the BGU Frankfurt hospital. At the request of the Hanau Public Prosecutor's Office, an expert was appointed to investigate the cause of the accident. The Kesselstadter Street had to be closed in both directions for about two hours for the accident investigation. There were no major traffic disruptions. Witnesses of this accident are asked to contact the police in Maintal at 06181-43020.
