Wiesbaden's local elections reveal stark divides across districts

Early results from Wiesbaden's local elections show a mixed picture across districts. The AfD has taken a clear lead in Biebrich, while the SPD and Greens perform strongly in Bierstadt and the Southeast. With cumulative voting and panachage still underway, over 150 candidates remain hopeful for extra support.

In Biebrich, the AfD dominates with 799 votes (33.0%). Markus Michel, Erhard Stahl, and Astrid Heller have secured the highest personal backing so far. The SPD follows with 533 votes (22.0%), led by Dmitrij Sluzkij, Ulrich Rehwald, and Rudolf Kaiser. The Greens have gained 125 votes (5.2%), while smaller parties also picked up some support.

In Bierstadt, the SPD leads with 506 votes (24.7%), with Dr. Alexander Gebauer receiving 93 personal votes. The FDP is close behind with 391 votes (19.1%), thanks to strong performances from Claudia Bär, Sarah Braun, and Andreas Börner. The Greens hold 395 votes (19.3%), with Nico Becher, Elke Eck, and Werner Born topping their list.

The Southeast district shows a different trend. The Greens are ahead with 528 votes (30.4%), led by Mechthild Behr, Christopher Nemeczek, and Barbara Krekeler. The SPD trails with 346 votes (19.9%), and Mario Zaleski has secured 81 personal votes.

Vote totals may still change as cumulative voting and panachage are finalised. Candidates are waiting for additional counted votes that could alter the rankings.

The current results highlight varying party strengths across Wiesbaden's districts. The AfD's lead in Biebrich contrasts with the SPD's and Greens' performances elsewhere. Final seat distribution will depend on the remaining votes and the city's specific electoral rules.
