Russian aviation worker detained over 252,000-ruble bribery scandal

In Krasnoyarsk, authorities have detained an employee of an aviation enterprise suspected of accepting bribes from a contracting company in exchange for favoritism—including cash and a snow-clearing machine.

According to preliminary findings by the Siberian Transport Division of the Russian Interior Ministry, a 43-year-old manager at one of the aviation company's Krasnoyarsk divisions—responsible for overseeing production processes—allegedly received 150,000 rubles from a representative of the contractor. In return, the company was granted general preferential treatment.

Investigators also believe the contractor systematically won bids and obtained confidential information about competing offers. Beyond the cash payments, the aviation company employee is said to have received a snowplow worth over 100,000 rubles as part of the arrangement.

The total value of the bribes is estimated at 252,000 rubles.

Criminal charges have been filed against the aviation company employee under Part 5, Article 290 (large-scale bribery) and against the bribe-giver under Part 4, Article 291 (bribery on an especially large scale). Both charges carry a maximum penalty of up to 12 years in prison. The investigation is ongoing, and both suspects remain in pretrial detention.
