Luxury Audi Q7 stolen in relay attack as scam calls surge in Rhine-Main region
A black Audi Q7 was stolen overnight in Oestrich-Winkel. Unknown perpetrators took the vehicle from Aegidiusstraße using as-yet-undetermined methods. The car was last seen with the license plates "RÜD-WP 93." There are currently no leads on the suspects.
Based on evidence at the scene, police suspect the thieves may have used a relay attack device—a tool that intercepts the keyless entry signal from the car key, allowing unauthorized access. Authorities advise owners of keyless vehicles to take precautions:
- Never leave keys near doors or windows.
- Shield the key's signal by wrapping it in aluminum foil or storing it in a metal box designed for this purpose.
- Check with your car manufacturer to see if the keyless system can be (temporarily) disabled.

2. Fake Police Officers Target Residents in Taunusstein and Bad Schwalbach, Thursday, September 25, 2025
Multiple residents in Taunusstein and Bad Schwalbach received fraudulent calls from imposters posing as police officers on Thursday. Fortunately, no victims have fallen for the scam so far—the intended targets recognized the deception and alerted authorities.
The scammers use various tactics, but their goal is always the same: to trick victims into handing over cash or valuables under the pretense of "securing" them from theft or legal action.
Key warnings from police: - No legitimate authority—whether police, banks, or prosecutors—will ever collect cash, jewelry, or valuables from your home. - No bank will ask you to transfer money over the phone. - Hang up immediately if you receive such a call—this is not rude, but the only way to stop the scammers.
Fraudsters manipulate victims into gathering all their cash or high-value items in one place, then demand they hand it over to an unknown person or transfer funds. If you receive a suspicious call, end it at once.
