Hesse police crack down on two-wheeler violations in cross-border safety blitz
Cross-Border Traffic Safety Operation Targets Two-Wheelers in Southeast Hesse
As part of a cross-border road safety campaign titled "Safe.Mobile.Life – Focus on Two-Wheelers," police in Southeast Hesse set up multiple checkpoints on Tuesday. The operation aimed to closely inspect traffic involving motorcycles, bicycles, and other vehicles. The Southeast Hesse Police Headquarters received support from the Hesse Police Operations Command.
A key focus was Mühlheimer Straße in Offenbach, where traffic officers conducted checks between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m., inspecting a total of 35 vehicles and 46 individuals. According to police, proceedings were initiated in several cases, including suspicions of driving without a license and violations of mandatory insurance laws.
Multiple Violations Detected During Checks
Additionally, a foreign driver now faces charges of document forgery after allegedly extending the validity date of his provisional certificate with a ballpoint pen.
Beyond these offenses, officers at the checkpoint also recorded 30 instances of speeding.
Controls Extended to B448
Another checkpoint was established by officers from Mühlheim Police Station at the end of the B448 federal highway. Between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., they inspected 17 motorcycles and 12 cars, along with their occupants.
Police reported that the vehicles were generally in proper technical condition, with only two minor defect notices issued. However, it was notable that drivers repeatedly failed to carry essential documents, such as vehicle registration certificates or general operating permits.
Man Arrested on Outstanding Warrant
During a vehicle check, officers also provisionally detained a man due to an outstanding arrest warrant. He was subsequently handed over to judicial authorities.
