Wiesbaden's Dambachtal Road closed after sudden water main rupture
Dambachtal Road in Wiesbaden has been shut in both directions after a water main burst. The closure stretches between Neubauerstraße and Kapellenstraße, disrupting traffic and cycling routes. Pedestrians, however, can still use the paths without restrictions. The roadblock began following the water main failure, forcing drivers to take alternative routes. Traffic is now being redirected via Neubauerstraße, with the usual one-way direction temporarily flipped. Cyclists must also find other ways around, though walkers remain unaffected.
The disruption is set to continue until Monday, January 19. Authorities have not linked the incident to past water supply issues or recent maintenance work. A separate chlorination process is scheduled for April 13, 2026, as part of planned upgrades to the Münzbergstollen tunnel.
Drivers and cyclists should plan for delays until the road reopens next week. The closure follows a sudden water main break, with no prior warnings or related maintenance reported. Pedestrian access remains unchanged during the repairs.
