Assistance Dogs Showcase Their Skills—A Weekend of Teamwork, Emotion, and Inspiring Insights into Lived Inclusion

Wiesbaden Hosts Charity Working Test for Assistance Dogs in 2026

The last weekend in April will be anything but quiet around Platte Hunting Lodge. At the Charity Working Test hosted by Vita e.V. Assistance Dogs, humans and their canine partners will take the stage as seamless teams—demonstrating just how powerful trust can be when words alone are no longer enough.

Vita e.V. Assistance Dogs: At a Glance

  • Charity Working Test – Assistance Dogs in Action
  • When: Saturday & Sunday, April 25–26, 2026
  • Where: Platte Hunting Lodge, An der B417, 65195 Wiesbaden

Precision, Trust—and a Touch of Wonder

Participants guide their dogs through a series of tasks: opening doors, retrieving objects, or responding to signals nearly imperceptible to onlookers. What may look like training is, at its core, a glimpse into daily life—small but vital actions that make all the difference for people with disabilities.

Spectators watch, learn, and ask questions—quickly realizing this isn't about spectacle, but independence. The dogs work with calm focus, almost effortlessly. And that, precisely, is where their strength lies.

More Than a Competition

The Charity Working Test isn't just about measuring performance. It's about shining a light on what often goes unseen. Assistance dogs accompany their handlers through everyday life, providing security and unlocking new freedoms. Wiesbaden's Mayor Christiane Hinninger underscores the social significance of this work, noting that these teams embody inclusion in practice—not as an abstract idea, but as a lived reality.

Open Doors and Resounding Horns

On Sunday, the hunting lodge itself opens its doors to the public. From 12 to 4 PM, visitors can explore the rooms, join guided tours, or simply take in the view over the city. Huntsmen's horn players provide a musical backdrop, lending the day an almost festive air.

Anyone expecting a quiet castle visit may be in for a surprise. Here, dogs work, people thrive—and along the way, they tell a story about how society could function.
