A 43-year-old man was sprayed in the face with an irritant in the Mainz-Kastel area of Wiesbaden. The attack happened on Thursday evening and left the victim needing medical care. Two unknown assailants carried out the assault before running away.

The incident took place on 19 March 2026. One attacker held the victim while the other sprayed him twice in the face with what police described as a pepper spray pistol. The weapon caused immediate irritation, requiring the man to seek treatment.

Police have opened an investigation but have not named any suspects. The assailants escaped on foot, and their identities remain unknown. Authorities are asking for public help and have provided a tip line at 345-0.
