Two arrested after botched Offenbach break-in on Hafeninsel
Police Arrest Two Suspects After Alleged Attempted Home Burglary on Offenbach's Hafeninsel
Police arrested two suspects in the early hours of Sunday morning following an alleged attempted residential break-in on Offenbach's Hafeninsel. The men, aged 32 and 34, are now under investigation on suspicion of attempted burglary, among other charges. Authorities are still searching for two additional accomplices.
According to current findings, four individuals were involved in the incident. The group is believed to have entered the garden of an apartment building in the 10s block. Investigators say one suspect acted as a lookout while another, assisted by the two men later apprehended, climbed onto a first-floor balcony.
Residents Return Just in Time
Police report that the suspects forced open a roller shutter. When residents returned home and noticed the break-in, all four fled the scene.
The two men later caught by police reportedly ran toward the harbor steps and then along the pedestrian and bike path parallel to the Main River, heading west. A witness pursued them, and an alerted patrol unit intercepted the suspects on the path before taking them into custody for identification procedures.
Police Seek Remaining Accomplices
During a search along the escape route, officers recovered two pairs of gloves, a flashlight, and a balaclava. The items were seized as evidence.
Criminal investigators are now searching for the two remaining unknown accomplices, who were dressed in dark clothing. Witnesses with any additional information are urged to come forward.
