Police crack down on freight violations at Seligenstadt motorway junction
Police Uncover Multiple Violations in Commercial Traffic Checks Near Seligenstadt
During inspections of commercial freight traffic at the Seligenstadt motorway junction on Monday morning, police identified numerous violations. Between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m., traffic enforcement specialists on the A45 highway focused primarily on checking vans and heavy goods vehicles.
A total of 42 vehicles and their drivers were inspected. Officers also conducted weight checks to detect potential overloading.
Breaches of Driving Hours and Load Regulations
According to police, eight reports were filed for violations of social regulations, including failures to comply with driving and rest periods or missing tachograph records. Two additional reports concerned cabotage violationsāunauthorized domestic transport operations by foreign companies without the required permits.
Officers also recorded six cases of overloading and one instance of inadequate load securing, where cargo was reportedly not properly secured.
Truck Stopped for 60% Overloading
Police highlighted a particularly egregious case involving a heavy goods vehicle from northern Germany carrying construction materials. Instead of the permitted 7.5 tons, the truck weighed approximately 12 tons. Authorities prohibited the vehicle from continuing its journey and ordered the load to be immediately reduced.
During the operation, officers collected security deposits totaling over ā¬2,900 and issued fines amounting to ā¬90.
