Turkish driver escapes after high-speed police chase ends in crash

A 25-year-old Turkish national fled a police checkpoint in Wiesbaden late on Saturday evening. The incident led to a high-speed chase that ended in a crash near An der Kupferlache, where officers later recovered the driver’s passport from the wreckage.

The chase began when the man, driving a red Opel Astra, refused to stop at a routine traffic check on Klopstockstraße. He accelerated sharply, swerving between officers before speeding away.

A police helicopter was called in to assist, but the driver managed to stay ahead. The pursuit ended abruptly when he lost control near *An der Kupferlache* and crashed into parked trailers. Despite the collision, the man abandoned the car and escaped on foot.

Authorities found the driver’s passport inside the wrecked vehicle, confirming his identity as a 25-year-old Turkish citizen. The search for him continues, though no arrests have been made so far.
