Police crack down on speeding in Licher Straße traffic blitz
Police carried out a traffic check in Licher Straße, near Heinrich-Fourier-Straße, on Wednesday. Officers from the Regional Traffic Service monitored speeds and vehicle conditions. The operation led to fines, a driving ban, and the seizure of an E-scooter. A stationary control point was set up to enforce speed limits and road safety. Out of 22 cars checked, 14 were found driving above the 50 km/h limit. One driver, travelling at 82 km/h, received a €260 fine, two points on their licence, and a one-month ban.
Another motorist exceeded the limit by 22 km/h, resulting in a €115 fine and a single penalty point. No other major violations were recorded, though minor offences were addressed immediately. Meanwhile, all 15 motorcycles inspected complied with regulations and were in proper working order.
An E-scooter was confiscated after officers observed children riding it in groups of two or three near the measuring point. The seizure was taken as a precautionary measure to prevent further misuse. The operation highlighted persistent speeding issues in the area. While most motorcycles met legal standards, several car drivers faced penalties. Authorities will continue monitoring the stretch to improve road safety and compliance.
