ROFU Kinderland shuts Halle store as insolvency forces mass closures
The ROFU Kinderland toy store in Halleâs HEP shopping park will close after just 30 months of operation. The shutdown is part of a wider restructuring plan following the companyâs insolvency. Nationwide, 27 branches will shut, leaving over 660 employees affected by the changes. The Halle branch is one of many facing closure as ROFU Kinderland undergoes major restructuring. A clearance sale will start soon and is expected to finish by July. Despite efforts to save parts of the business, the location in Bruckdorf will not remain open.
The companyâs headquarters in Hoppstädten-Weiersbach will cut its workforce from 360 to just 80. Meanwhile, the logistics centre in Ramstein will close completely. These measures come as part of a broader plan to stabilise the struggling retailer.
An investor agreement has been reached with Bavaria-based Kids & School Holding GmbH. This deal will save 77 core stores, but the Halle branch is not included. From August, ROFU will continue as an independent company under new ownershipâthough without a presence in the HEP shopping park. The closure of the Halle store marks a significant loss for the Bruckdorf site. With 27 locations shutting nationwide, hundreds of jobs will disappear. The remaining 77 stores will operate under new management, but the future for affected employees remains uncertain.
