On the back wall, there are flags, a board, a fire extinguisher, and some ceiling lights to a roof. The text on the board reads "Sancho City Councilman Joins City Council".

Marburg's Disability Council Prepares for Crucial Five-Year Elections

Marburg's Advisory Council for People with Disabilities is preparing for its next election. The assembly will choose 20 delegates to represent residents with disabilities in the city. These representatives will advise the executive council and municipal assembly on issues affecting disabled individuals for the next five years. The election takes place every five years, with delegates appointed by disability advocacy groups. Organisations like the Marburg Disability Council, Caritas, and Diakonie have traditionally provided the most representatives. This year, the delegate assembly will meet in the conference room on the second lower level of the Youth and Social Services Office at Friedrichstraße 36.

Before the main election, a pre-election meeting is scheduled for non-affiliated voters. Residents with a severe disability ID who are not part of any support group can attend this session on Tuesday, February 3, at 4:30 PM. The same location will host both events. Advance registration is required by Friday, January 30. Those interested can contact the Social Benefits Department by phone at 49 6423 201-5027 or by email at [email protected]. More information about the council's role is available at www.ourwebsite/disability-council.

The newly elected council will work closely with Marburg's local government to address disability-related concerns. Delegates will serve as a direct link between disabled residents and city decision-makers. Their term begins after the assembly's vote.
