Man disrupts trains after climbing live signal bridge at Hühnfeld station
A 35-year-old man was taken into custody on Tuesday morning after climbing onto a signal bridge at Hühnfeld train station. The incident disrupted rail services and triggered an immediate police response just after 6:30 AM.
The man scaled the structure, which supports overhead power lines carrying 15,000 volts of electricity. These lines remain live at all times, even when no trains are operating. State police officers quickly intervened, persuading him to climb down before detaining him.
The disruption led to 29-minute delays for 11 trains passing through the station. Following the incident, the Federal Police Inspectorate launched an investigation and opened administrative offence proceedings against the man. No official figures exist on similar cases involving railway power lines in recent years. Authorities have not announced any new safety measures in response to this event.
The man now faces potential charges as part of the ongoing investigation. Train services resumed normal operation after the delays, though the incident highlighted the risks of unauthorised access to railway infrastructure. Police have not released further details about the individual's motives or condition.
