Langen's May Market blends tradition, cider tastings and green cycling initiatives

The market is organized by members of the Cider & Orchard Trail, the Langen Horticultural and Gardening Association, and the Wassergasse Advertising Association. Visitors can look forward to regional apple wine (Apfelwein), cider, and other local specialties.

Official Opening and Apple Wine Tasting

The event kicks off at 11 a.m. with an opening address by Mayor Jan Werner. In the courtyard of the Langen Blumen-Stubb, master cider-maker Jörg Stier and innkeeper Heinz-Georg Sehring will present the new SiebenschlÀfer apple wine and cider for tasting.

The city's environmental advisory service—which is also part of the Cider Trail—will join forces with the Offenbach District Landscape Conservation Association to highlight the importance of traditional orchard meadows (Streuobstwiesen). Interested visitors can pick up route maps and purchase SiebenschlĂ€fer products, with proceeds supporting the preservation of local orchard landscapes.

Diverse Program in the Old Town

At the Historic Print Workshop, guests can explore traditional printing techniques. Other participants include the Langen and Surroundings Beekeepers' Association and the Langen Lions Club. Most shops along Wassergasse will be open from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., showcasing their wares.

From 2:30 p.m., a coffee reception at Adlerhof will be accompanied by live music from the TV Brass Orchestra. Culinary highlights include grilled sausages, fish specialties from Fisch-Rath, fresh asparagus and strawberries from Bauer Benz in Wixhausen, and offerings from the Göbel Distillery in Reinheim. Starting at 3:30 p.m., the cover band "BoN" (Band ohne Namen—"Band with No Name") will perform rock and pop hits from the past four decades in the Cocktail Lounge.

Launch of Stadtradeln Bike Campaign

This year's Stadtradeln cycling initiative will also get underway at the May Market. At 2 p.m., Mayor Jan Werner will officially open the environmental campaign at the information booth of the German Cycling Club (ADFC) Langen/Egelsbach, followed by a short bike tour led by the ADFC.

The Stadtradeln campaign, organized by the Climate Alliance, encourages people to switch to cycling for everyday trips. Participation is free, and in Langen, the event runs from May 3 to 23. Anyone who lives, works, or attends school in Langen can take part by logging their cycled kilometers on the website *www.stadtradeln.de*. Participants can also form their own teams.

The SiebenschlÀfer May Market is a beloved herald of the warm season, blending traditional regional flavors with environmental awareness and neighborly charm in the historic setting of Wassergasse.
