Friedberg honors emergency responders with Show Respect, Earn Respect event
A public event called Show Respect, Earn Respect took place in Friedberg on August 29. Held at Elvis-Presley-Platz, the gathering celebrated emergency responders and aimed to build stronger ties between them and the local community. The initiative was part of the Hesse Ministry of the Interiorâs ongoing Respect Package for emergency personnel.
The event was organised by the Middle Hesse Police Headquarters. It brought together police officers, firefighters, paramedics, and crisis chaplains to showcase their work and engage with residents. Information booths were set up by each service, offering details on their roles and responsibilities.
Visitors could explore emergency vehicles and take part in hands-on demonstrations. German Red Cross rescue dogs were also on site, showing how they assist in life-saving operations. For families, the event included creative activities and a fire-truck-shaped bounce house for children. A long rope was stretched across the square as a symbol of unity. Emergency responders and guests, including Torsten KrĂźckemeier (President of the Middle Hesse Police), Jan Weckler (District Administrator of Wetteraukreis), Kjetil Dahlhaus (Mayor of Friedberg), and Christine Diegel (Friedbergâs First Alderman), gathered for a group photo behind it. The dayâs goal was clear: to recognise the essential work of emergency services, encourage public respect, and deepen trust between them and the community.
The event provided a chance for residents to meet and thank the teams who keep them safe. Organisers hope the initiative will continue to strengthen cooperation between emergency services and the public.
