Hit-and-run leaves 71-year-old cyclist injured in Darmstadt crash
A 71-year-old cyclist was injured in a hit-and-run collision on Tuesday evening. The incident took place at the intersection of Bachgasse and Geißengasse in Darmstadt. Police are now searching for two individuals who fled the scene after the crash.
The collision happened at around 6:30 p.m. on September 2. The elderly woman was cycling along Bachgasse when an e-scooter, coming from Geißengasse, struck her. The rider and a passenger on the scooter immediately left the area without stopping.
The suspect operating the e-scooter is believed to be around 15 to 16 years old. Described as roughly 1.60 meters tall, the individual has short blonde hair and was wearing light-coloured trousers at the time. The passenger, thought to be between 13 and 14 years old, is about 1.50 meters tall with black, curly hair. This person was dressed in jeans and a T-shirt. The cyclist suffered minor injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Authorities have yet to identify either individual involved in the incident.
