Hesse Launches State Award for Workplace Inclusion and Equal Opportunities

The Hessian Ministry of Labour, Integration, Youth, and Social Affairs has opened applications for its State Award for Inclusion in Working Life. The prize recognises employers in Hesse who actively promote equal opportunities and inclusion for people with disabilities in the workplace.

The award, previously called the State Prize for Exemplary Employment of Severely Disabled People, now highlights companies with an inclusive corporate culture. Successful applicants will demonstrate how their practices create societal value through better workplace integration.

Businesses have until **15 June 2026** to submit their entries. An independent jury will assess the applications and select the winners based on their commitment to inclusion. Winning companies will receive a **€3,000 cash prize**, a certificate, and the right to reference the award in their public communications for three years. The initiative aims to encourage more employers to adopt inclusive hiring and workplace policies.

The award continues to promote greater participation of disabled employees in Hesse's labour market. Companies that meet the criteria will gain recognition for their efforts while setting an example for others. Further details on past winners, including the number of companies honoured or their industries, have not been disclosed.
