Hanau's Schlossgarten Playground Gets a Fairy-Tale Makeover by Spring
A major redesign of the playground in Hanau's historic Schlossgarten is now underway. The updated space will feature fairy-tale-themed equipment, including a castle and kitchen, tailored for children aged six to twelve. Work is progressing smoothly, with an opening expected in late April or early May.
The project began recently and remains on schedule. New play structures, such as a whimsical castle and castle kitchen, will arrive and be installed within the next two weeks. The play areas will also include wood chips and sand for added safety and play value.
Children who shared their ideas during the participatory planning phase will receive special invitations to the opening event. The total cost of the redesign is around €462,000. Schlossgarten, established in 1766, provides a historic backdrop for the modernised playground. Last year, Hanau improved 16 playgrounds across the city, with youth involvement in projects like the Kesselstadt playground in March 2024.
The new playground will offer a fresh space for children in Hanau once it opens in late April or early May. The fairy-tale-themed equipment and improved surfaces aim to create a more engaging environment for young visitors. No major delays have been reported so far.
