Early morning fire in Singlis destroys vehicles and damages home
A fire broke out early Sunday morning on Holzäckerweg in Singlis, causing significant damage to property. Emergency services were called at around 4:30 a.m. on August 10, 2025, after a witness spotted flames coming from a car under a carport. No injuries were reported, but the blaze affected vehicles, a garden shed, and part of a residential building. The fire began when a Mercedes-Benz parked under a carport caught fire. Two nearby Volkswagens also ignited partially, while the carport and a garden shed behind it burned completely. The intense heat shattered windowpanes and damaged one side of the house with soot.
Firefighters arrived quickly and used a turntable ladder to access the attic, preventing the flames from spreading further inside the home. Their efforts saved most of the residential building, and the three residents escaped without harm.
Criminal police, led by Chief Criminal Inspector Yvonne Winter, are now examining the cause. So far, investigators have found no signs of arson or deliberate criminal activity. Preliminary estimates suggest the total damage will reach the low six-figure range. The incident remains under investigation, with authorities focusing on how the fire started. The swift response from firefighters limited the destruction, though repairs will be needed for the vehicles, shed, and parts of the house. Residents were unharmed, but the financial impact is expected to be substantial.
