Police catch driver at 159 km/h in 80 km/h zone on A7 motorway
A three-hour speed enforcement operation on the A7 motorway uncovered hundreds of traffic violations. Police checked over 3,300 vehicles and recorded 165 offences, including extreme speeding. One driver was caught travelling at nearly double the legal limit.
The operation took place on August 6, 2023, between the HΓΌnfeld/Schlitz and Niederaula junctions. Officers monitored traffic for three hours, stopping 3,343 vehicles in total.
A driver from Diepholz district in Lower Saxony was recorded at 159 km/h in an 80 km/h zone. This offence alone led to a β¬700 fine, two penalty points, and a three-month driving ban. Three other motorists were caught exceeding the limit by up to 60 km/h. Among the 165 violations, 73 involved speeds of up to 40 km/h over the limit. The operation highlighted persistent issues with excessive speeding on this stretch of motorway.
The driver caught at 159 km/h now faces strict penalties. The operation also revealed dozens of other speeding offences, reinforcing concerns about safety on the A7. Authorities continue to monitor the motorway for further violations.
