Distraction thieves target 85-year-old woman in Darmstadt ATM fraud

An 85-year-old woman fell victim to distraction thieves in Darmstadt on March 17. The incident occurred around 12:45 p.m. on Stadtweg, where criminals stole her bank card and withdrew cash from an ATM.

The elderly woman was targeted while in the city centre. The thieves managed to take her card from her handbag without her noticing immediately. They then used it at a nearby cash machine to withdraw money.

The Darmstadt Criminal Police (K 21/22) have launched an investigation into the crime. Authorities are now appealing for witnesses who may have seen suspicious activity in the area at the time. Anyone with information is urged to come forward. The police can be reached at +49 6151 / 969-0.

The case remains under active investigation by local detectives. Witness statements could help identify those responsible for the theft. The victim's bank card was used fraudulently shortly after being stolen.
