Bürstner halts caravan production to focus on motorhomes by 2027

Bürstner has announced a major shift in its production strategy. From 2027, the company will pause caravan manufacturing to focus solely on motorhomes and camper vans. The decision follows a sharp drop in demand for traditional caravans across Europe. The change was confirmed by Managing Director Hubert Brandl, who stressed that this was not a permanent withdrawal from the caravan market. Instead, the company is adapting to shifting trends, as motorhomes and camper vans grow increasingly popular among camping enthusiasts.

Caravan production will stop completely with the 2027 season. Industry figures highlight the decline: in 2025, Germany registered just 18,766 new caravans—a 13.4% drop from the previous year. Despite the pause, Bürstner has reassured existing caravan owners that service and spare parts will remain available without interruption.

Lea Isenmann, Head of Marketing, confirmed that the restructuring would not affect production sites in Kehl, Germany, or Wissembourg, France. Jobs at both locations will remain secure, as the company redirects its focus toward expanding its motorhome and camper van lines. The move marks a clear response to changing consumer preferences. Bürstner’s decision to prioritise motorhomes and camper vans reflects broader market trends, while ensuring ongoing support for current caravan customers. Production sites and employment levels will stay unchanged during the transition.
