Wiesbaden street closed after building façade collapses near Römertor

A section of a window ledge broke away from the façade of a building at Römertor 9 in Wiesbaden. As a precaution, the city has closed off part of Römertor Street and nearby access routes until further notice. The incident occurred when part of the ledge detached from the building’s exterior. Property management immediately alerted authorities, who cordoned off the affected area. Heritage conservation officials were also notified to assess any potential impact on the historic structure.

A specialised firm is now inspecting the damage to determine the next steps. Römertor Street between numbers 4 and 7 remains shut, along with access from Coulinstraße and a pedestrian staircase. Pedestrians must use alternative routes while the investigation continues. The city has reminded residents that an interactive map is available online, showing current construction and closure sites across Wiesbaden. Officials will release further details once the inspection report is complete.

The closure will stay in place until experts confirm the area is safe. Updates on the situation will be shared by the city as soon as the assessment is finished. For now, detours remain mandatory for all pedestrians in the vicinity.
