Wiesbaden crime wave: Assaults, scams, and burglaries shock the city

Police in Wiesbaden have reported several incidents over the past week, including assaults, burglaries, and fraud attempts. A man from Rheingau-Taunus was arrested after two separate bus assaults, while fake tradespeople targeted an elderly woman in Biebrich. Authorities also dealt with a car impoundment and a break-in in Nordenstadt.

On a Friday afternoon, a 66-year-old man from Rheingau-Taunus was detained following two assaults on buses in Wiesbaden. The first incident occurred around 2:10 PM at Dürerplatz, with the second happening later at 4:20 PM on Aarstraße. Officers took him into custody after he displayed aggressive behaviour while intoxicated. He was placed in a cell to sober up.

In a separate case, two unidentified individuals posed as craftspeople to enter a 94-year-old woman's apartment in Wiesbaden-Biebrich. Claiming to fix a water leak, they distracted the victim in the bathroom before stealing cash and other items from her living room cabinet. The female suspect is described as 30-35 years old, about 5'7", with dark shoulder-length hair, wearing a dark blue puffer jacket and dark pants. The male suspect is reported to be 40-45 years old, around 5'7", with brown hair, dressed in a black knit sweater with white lettering and dark pants. Meanwhile, a burglary took place on Heerstraße in Nordenstadt, where an unknown intruder forced open an apartment door and stole jewellery and cash. The incident remains under investigation. Additionally, police impounded a heavily modified Mercedes on Mainzer Straße after a traffic stop. The vehicle was deemed unroadworthy due to illegal alterations, leading to its seizure.

The arrested man remains in custody, while investigations into the fraud and burglary cases continue. Authorities have not yet released further details on the suspects involved in the scam or the Nordenstadt break-in. The impounded Mercedes will undergo further inspection before any legal action is taken.
