As part of the international search campaign 'Identify Me', law enforcement agencies have successfully identified another previously unknown deceased woman as a 31-year-old Russian citizen. Known as the 'Woman in Pink', she was found on a street in Viladecans, near Barcelona, on July 3, 2005. Wearing pink clothing and shoes, she had been dead for less than 24 hours at the time. Evidence suggested that the body had been moved in the 12 hours prior to discovery. Despite extensive investigations, her identity remained unknown for two decades.
In 2024, Spanish authorities passed the case to INTERPOL as part of the 'Identify Me' campaign, making biometric data available to all 196 member states for comparison with their national databases.
In 2025, Turkish police matched fingerprints to those of a Russian citizen, which was later confirmed by a DNA analysis.
This is the third success of the international 'Identify Me' campaign, following the identification of a 31-year-old British woman in Belgium in 2023 and a 33-year-old Paraguayan woman in Spain in March 2025.
**About the Identify Me campaign**
Launched in October 2024 with six European countries (Belgium, Germany, France, Italy, Netherlands, and Spain), the international 'Identify Me' search campaign aims to identify the 46 women, many of whom were murdered or died under suspicious circumstances. Some cases date back decades and may have international connections. The renewed appeal seeks crucial tips from the public to help identify the unknown women.
