Voestalpine secures €500M rail deals with Deutsche Bahn and Swiss Federal Railways
Voestalpine Railway Systems is expanding its position in the rail infrastructure sector with major new projects in Germany and Switzerland. The contracts cover tracks, switches, and state-of-the-art signaling and monitoring systems.
According to the company's own statements, Voestalpine AG has secured orders from Deutsche Bahn (DB) and Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) worth a total of approximately €500 million. As announced in March, the scope of work includes the supply of rail and switch systems as well as signaling technology and monitoring solutions.
Under the agreements, Voestalpine will deliver components for key Deutsche Bahn infrastructure projects, including the redevelopment of Frankfurt Central Station and the modernization of high-traffic corridors such as the Hamburg-Berlin route. DB's investments in rail infrastructure are set to exceed €23 billion by 2026.
In Switzerland, the company has signed a long-term framework agreement with SBB, covering the supply of axle-counting systems for track monitoring, along with digital signaling and diagnostic solutions designed to advance the digitization and safety of the rail network. The deal also includes service and cybersecurity provisions.
Voestalpine further highlights its track record in international projects, such as Austria's Koralm Railway and a high-speed line in Egypt.
