Violent clashes and hit-and-run incidents shake Limburg-Weilburg district
A series of traffic incidents and a violent confrontation with police have been reported in the Limburg-Weilburg district. While no severe accidents with injuries occurred in early 2026, recent events include a hit-and-run, a motorcycle crash, and a three-vehicle collision linked to suspected drunk driving. Authorities are now investigating and seeking public assistance in one case.
On a recent evening in Weilburg, a 39-year-old man was arrested after attacking police officers. He lifted manhole covers, overturned a bench, and struck officers with his fists. The man also made serious threats during the confrontation. Both officers suffered minor injuries, and the suspect now faces charges of resisting law enforcement, assault, and making threats.
Earlier, a 16-year-old motorcycle rider lost control on County Road 490, grazing an oncoming car. The teen suffered minor injuries, and the damage from the accident was estimated at around €7,500. In Eschhofen, a hit-and-run incident took place when a driver reversed into a parked Mercedes Vito and fled. Police are asking witnesses to come forward by calling +49 6431 9140-0. A separate three-vehicle collision also occurred in Eschhofen after a driver crossed into oncoming traffic. Suspected of drunk driving, the driver caused an Audi and a Dacia to collide. All five occupants sustained minor injuries. Authorities have opened an investigation and are requesting any relevant information from the public.
The incidents highlight a mix of traffic violations and violent behaviour in the region. Police are actively investigating the three-vehicle crash and the hit-and-run, while the arrested man in Weilburg remains in custody. No severe traffic accidents with injuries have been recorded in Limburg since early 2026.
