Three-Car Pileup on A3 Motorway Leaves One Driver Injured Near Rodgau
A multi-vehicle crash involving three cars occurred Wednesday morning on the A3 motorway near Rodgau, between the Obertshausen and Hanau junctions. A 71-year-old driver sustained minor injuries in the collision.
The accident took place shortly after 8 a.m. in the direction of Würzburg. According to initial police findings, the 71-year-old man from the Mainz-Bingen district was driving his Kia Sportage in the leftmost of the three lanes.
A 41-year-old truck driver switched from the right lane to the middle lane and apparently failed to notice a VW Caddy. The van's driver attempted to avoid a collision with the lorry and swerved left, striking the Kia.
The Kia first hit the concrete barrier before rebounding into the VW Caddy. The 71-year-old Kia driver suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene before being released.
The crash caused approximately €13,000 in total property damage. The hard shoulder and right lane were temporarily closed to allow for accident investigations.
