Thieves strike three vans in Rüsselsheim overnight theft spree

Three vans were broken into in Rüsselsheim on Wednesday, 7 January. Thieves targeted tools and electronics, causing damage worth several thousand euros.

The incidents took place on Hamburger Straße, Uhlandstraße, and Grabenstraße. Police have yet to confirm if the thefts are linked.

The first two break-ins happened on Hamburger Straße and Uhlandstraße. In both cases, thieves stole tools from Peugeot vans. The owners later discovered the missing equipment.

A third van, a Nissan parked on Grabenstraße, was also targeted. Here, the culprits took a tablet instead of tools. No exact figures exist for tool or vehicle thefts in Rüsselsheim or Frankfurt over the past year. However, records show one similar incident in nearby Erbach between 13 and 16 March 2026. Across the wider Südhessen region, which includes Rüsselsheim, 2025 saw 8,915 simple thefts and 6,600 aggravated thefts—many involving forced entry into secured vehicles.

The total losses from these three break-ins run into several thousand euros. Police are investigating but have not yet released further details. Authorities have not confirmed whether the thefts are connected to broader regional trends.
