Wepa Raises Prices
Wepa hikes pharmacy maintenance fees by 10% starting July 1
Berlin – Wepa is also increasing its prices: pharmacies with maintenance and service contracts will now pay €299 per visit, up from €272.25. The new terms take effect on July 1.
The company supports many pharmacies in implementing quality management systems (QMS) for laboratories and compounding services, aiming to provide reliable, long-term service and tangible relief in daily pharmacy operations. "To ensure we can continue delivering these services at the usual high standard, we are adjusting the terms of our maintenance and service agreements," Wepa stated.
With two scheduled visits per year, total costs will rise to €599. New customers will also pay an additional €127 for the initial inventory assessment.
Inspection, Calibration, and Safety Checks
Wepa conducts comprehensive checks of existing laboratory and compounding equipment and assists with necessary calibrations, such as for scales. Fume hoods, refrigerators, and ladders are also inspected, along with safety markings. Replacement equipment is provided within 48 hours if needed.
Pharmacies can additionally commission paid services, including fire extinguisher maintenance (€118 for two years), compounding workbench upkeep (€149), hazardous material cabinet servicing (€159, plus €248 for filter replacement), and electrical appliance testing.
€120 Million in Revenue
Headquartered in Hillscheid, Wepa traces its roots to Paulus & Thewalt, founded in 1882. After merging with Kassel-based Georg Wenderoth, the company adopted its current name. That same year, it launched its in-house packaging brand, Aponorm, followed by the Topitec mixing systems in 1998. Its product range also includes promotional and print materials.
Now in its fifth generation under Dr. Christian Ciesielski, Wepa employs around 350 people. The company reported revenue of approximately €120 million and profits of €15 million in its latest financial results.
