Staufen Aims to Better Handle Large-Scale Power Outages with New Emergency Plan
Staufen Unveils Emergency Plan to Combat Long-Term Power Outages
The town of Staufen has developed a comprehensive emergency response strategy to improve its ability to manage widespread blackouts. The plan will be presented to the town council on Thursday, April 29, 2026. According to the local administration, the goal is to ensure the municipality remains operational during prolonged power failures while maintaining critical infrastructure and essential public services.
The strategy was created in collaboration with Stadtwerke Müllheim-Staufen (Müllheim-Staufen Public Utilities) and includes organizational procedures, clear lines of responsibility, and specific measures for crisis scenarios. Among other things, it outlines how the town will respond in an emergency and which structures will be activated.
Some of the proposed measures are still being implemented and will be expanded step by step. As per the draft, the necessary investments will be gradually incorporated into the budget. Additional steps may follow in the coming years.
The town views the emergency plan as a dynamic tool that will be regularly reviewed and updated to ensure it remains current and can adapt to new challenges.
The town council will first take note of the plan. Its approval will serve as the basis for further implementation and ongoing development.
