From kindergarten intruders to a bar thief caught red-handed, Gießen's latest crime spree leaves residents on edge. One driver's near-miss adds to the chaos.

Allendorf (Lumda): Cleaner surprises burglar

Around 7:00 PM on Thursday evening (18.09.2025), two young men gained access to a kindergarten in the Totenhaeuser Weg in Allendorf through a window. Inside the building, they were surprised by a cleaner, who then fled through a window. The cleaner described both men as 18-20 years old, with dark skin and dark, curly hair. Both were dressed in dark clothing. One of them was about 180 cm tall, the other around 190 cm. They did not seem to have taken any loot. The Gießen Criminal Police asks: Who has seen the described persons? Who can provide information on their identity? Who has made further suspicious observations? Gießen: Witness catches thief

In the early hours of Friday (19.09.2025), a man climbed over the fence of a bar in the Ringallee around 2:35 AM. He took a bag of empties from a storage room. A witness who noticed the act caught the thief, alerted the emergency call and held the man, a 31-year-old Gießener, until the police arrived. The man was taken to the police station. After the police measures were completed, the Gießener was released in the night. Now, investigations are being conducted against him for the suspected particularly serious case of theft.

Gießen: Break-in at cemetery administration

Burglars damaged a window of the cemetery administration in the Friedhofsallee between Wednesday (17.09.2025), 3:45 PM and Thursday (18.09.2025), 6:10 AM. They entered the building through this window and searched several rooms. It is not yet known whether they took anything. Witnesses who have seen suspicious persons are asked to contact the Gießen Criminal Police (Tel.: 0641 7006-6555).

Gießen: Classroom broken into

Unknown persons entered a classroom of the Sandfeldschule in the Mildred-Harnack-Weg in Gießen through a window. However, they failed to open the locked door of the classroom and thus could not get into the hallway. They left the school building without loot. The crime happened between Wednesday (17.09.2025), 6:30 PM and Thursday (18.09.2025), 7:30 AM. The Gießen Criminal Police is investigating and asks witnesses who have made suspicious observations for tips (Tel.: 0641 7006-6555).

Grünberg: Collides with guide post while avoiding

On Tuesday evening (16.09.2025) around 7:30 PM, a 24-year-old woman from Grünberg was driving her black 1-series BMW on the L 3166 from Grünberg towards Weickartshain. In a curve, an oncoming car ended up on the wrong side of the road. The 24-year-old swerved her BMW to the right to avoid it and collided with a guide post. The oncoming vehicle, a black small car, continued on its way. Witnesses of the accident are asked to contact the police station Grünberg under Tel.: 06401 91430.
