Bad Nauheim: Tricked-out E-scooter and poorly maintained truck - Wetterau Traffic Service with trained eye

During their measures to monitor traffic, officers of the Regional Traffic Service Wetterau inspected the driver of an E-scooter on Friday (19.09.2025). Using a special measuring device, the police officers found that the E-scooter could reach a speed of 62 km/h. However, the permitted maximum speed for E-scooters is limited to 20 km/h. Furthermore, the law enforcers noticed that the inspected E-scooter had an insurance plate that was issued for another vehicle. Among other things, the 17-year-old E-scooter driver now faces proceedings for driving without a license, forgery, and a violation of the compulsory insurance law. Additionally, the traffic experts subjected a 40-ton dump truck to a comprehensive technical inspection. They registered several significant defects. A tire of the tractor had a large hole, exposing the carcass. The engine oil pan was leaking. All brake discs showed heat cracks and the pressure air tanks of the brake system were damaged. Due to the many defects, the vehicle was presented to the TÜV. There, it was found that the braking power of the trailer had decreased to only 34 percent. Moreover, the gross weight of 54.19 tons exceeded the permissible total weight by more than 30 percent. The officers prohibited the further journey of the truck due to the detected defects. This means a fine and points in Flensburg for the driver, who is also the owner of the truck.
