Rennsteig Werkzeuge expands German factory to meet surging global demand

Rennsteig Werkzeuge has officially opened its expanded factory in Steinbach-Hallenberg. The event marked the company’s third production capacity increase since moving its headquarters in 1998. The growth follows a revenue surge of over 60 percent between 2020 and 2025. The symbolic opening was led by Ralf Putsch, a shareholder and managing director of Knipex, alongside Jonas Putsch. Sascha Zmiskol, Rennsteig Werkzeuge’s managing director, and technical director Georg Holland-Moritz also attended the ceremony. Among the invited guests were Thorsten Herrmann, president of the Südthüringen Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK), and Markus Böttcher, mayor of Steinbach-Hallenberg.

The expansion project was constructed by Schmalkalder Bau GmbH, with local firms handling specialised trades. The investment focuses on adding manufacturing space and improving production logistics. Company leaders highlighted the decision to expand in Germany, citing the skill and commitment of their workforce. With the new capacity, Rennsteig Werkzeuge aims to grow its market presence. The company plans to strengthen global distribution of its 'Made in Germany' products.

The factory’s expansion reflects the company’s strong economic performance in recent years. Additional production space will support increased output and streamlined operations. The move reinforces Rennsteig Werkzeuge’s position in both domestic and international markets.
