Pub break-in leaves €1,500 damage—thieves steal just three cigarette packs

A pub in the Hundsbach district of Tann was broken into early Monday morning. Unknown assailants caused around €1,500 in damage but took only three packs of cigarettes. Police in Osthessen are now stepping up efforts to tackle similar crimes across the region.

The break-in happened in the early hours, with the intruders searching the premises for valuables. Despite ransacking the pub, they left with just a small amount of cigarettes. The incident left behind roughly €1,500 worth of property damage.

In response to rising break-ins, Osthessen police have increased patrols, surveillance, and targeted checks. These measures have already shown success in Marburg-Biedenkopf, where similar tactics helped identify suspects and reduce opportunities for crime. Around Fulda and Tann, authorities are planning awareness campaigns, including information stands, educational videos, and coordinated data-sharing. Extra officers will also be deployed in Fulda to boost visibility and deterrence. Residents with information can report tips online at www.polizei.hessen.de or contact the Osthessen Police Headquarters directly at +49 661 105-0. Local police stations are also available for anyone wishing to share details about the incident or other suspicious activity.

The investigation into the Tann pub break-in remains ongoing. Police are urging anyone with information to come forward as they expand prevention efforts across the region. Enhanced patrols and public awareness initiatives aim to reduce further incidents and improve community safety.
