New Rural Path Campaign Aims to Ease Tensions in Ostallgäu
A new campaign called Consideration Clears the Way has launched in Ostallgäu to ease tensions on rural paths. The initiative, led by the Tourism Board and the Bavarian Farmers' Association, targets safer interactions between farmers, foresters, and recreational users. Its goal is simple: encourage mutual respect and prevent accidents on busy field tracks. The first signs and ground markings appeared this week in Goldhasen, near Schwaltenweiher Lake. These visual guides remind walkers, cyclists, and drivers to yield space when meeting agricultural vehicles. More locations will follow, chosen based on requests from local communities.
Farmer Xaver Paulsteiner stressed the need for cooperation, noting that narrow paths can quickly become hazardous without consideration. Maria Rita Zinnecker, District Administrator and Tourism Board Chair, echoed this sentiment, calling the campaign a vital step for shared rural spaces.
The initiative will expand as additional sites are identified. Signs and markings will continue to be installed where conflicts arise. Organisers hope the effort will reduce accidents and improve relations between rural workers and leisure users.
