Massive truck crash shuts down B252 exit near Münchhausen

A serious traffic accident disrupted travel on the B252 near Münchhausen in the early hours of March 10, 2026. Two heavy trailers veered off the exit ramp to the B236 towards Battenberg, striking a guardrail. No injuries were reported, but the incident caused significant damage to infrastructure and required immediate road closures.

The crash occurred just after midnight on Tuesday, March 10. The two trailers, carrying a combined load of around 76 tons with a total weight of 120 tons, left the road before coming to a halt. The affected exit ramp was fully closed, and a diversion was quickly set up to manage traffic flow.

By March 12, both the B252 and B236 had fully reopened after crews cleared debris and completed repairs. Traffic alerts were broadcast to warn drivers of delays during the closure. Specialists from the Hesse State Police were brought in to examine the cause of the accident and check the roadworthiness of the heavy transport combination. As of March 24, no further disruptions have been reported in the region, and the traffic situation has returned to normal.

The investigation into the accident remains ongoing, with authorities focusing on the heavy transport's condition and the events leading up to the crash. The exit ramp has since reopened, and no lasting traffic issues have been recorded in the area.
