Police Chief Commissioner Mario Nowotny is the new head of the police station in Highest. In the presence of numerous guests in the rooms of the police station, Police Vice President Dirk Fornoff officially handed over the leadership of the station to the experienced police officer on Monday (29.09.). This means that Mario Nowotny is succeeding First Criminal Chief Commissioner Michaela Schmelzer, who recently retired.

Police Vice President Fornoff welcomed the guests and outlined the future tasks and challenges that the new position will bring. He praised the previous achievements of the young station chief, who began his studies at the Hessian Police in the year 2000. For his new and responsible task, he wished the police chief commissioner good luck and success.

Mario Nowotny began his police career in 2003 after successfully completing his studies at the Hessian Rapid Deployment Police in Mainz-Kastel. A year later, he moved to South Hesse to the police station in Heppenheim, where he initially served as a patrol officer and later as a deputy shift leader. In 2016, he moved to the Odenwald as a shift leader to the police station in Erbach, where he was most recently responsible for security and order tasks and as a deputy for the police station in Highest.

Mario Nowotny is looking forward to the future cooperation with other authorities and especially with the municipalities of Highest, Breuberg, Lützelbach and Brensbach within the area of responsibility of the police station in Highest. "Even a relatively small station like Highest offers a wide range of challenges from a police perspective. I have a good team by my side that I can rely on. Together, we will continue to contribute significantly every day to ensure that people can live safely here," said the new station chief.

Mario Nowotny is 45 years old, married, and has two school-age sons. He lives with his family in Erbach. He finds his professional balance, among other things, in mountain biking and long walks with his dog. The new Highest station chief is also active as a voluntary football coach in the youth sector in Michelstadt.
