Major Celebration at Mainz's Zollhafen: Marina B Office Project Reaches Topping-Out Ceremony
Marina B's structural work completes as Mainz's Zollhafen district evolves into a business hub
A topping-out ceremony for the new Marina B office development was held on Thursday in Mainz's Zollhafen district, as announced by the city of Mainz and developer LBBW Immobilien. The completion of the building's structural work marks a key milestone, with the entire project scheduled for completion in early 2027.
The office building is being constructed directly on the waterfront in the emerging urban quarter. Together with the neighboring residential projects Rivage and Marina A, Marina B will further expand the area, adding modern workspaces to the mix.
"For Mainz, Zollhafen represents far more than just a new neighborhood—it embodies the courage to embrace change and the ability to bridge tradition with the future," said Mainz's Lord Mayor Nino Haase at the event. He described the district as "a true showcase for the modern face of Mainz."
Majority of Space Already Leased
According to LBBW Immobilien, a significant portion of the building's space has already been leased long-term. The accounting and consulting firm KPMG will occupy roughly 90 percent of the office area upon completion. "With a modern, inspiring work environment, we are creating space for growth, collaboration, and transformation," said Ralf J. Baukloh, KPMG's Regional Managing Director for Central Germany.
Sustainability is a major focus in the project's construction. Marina B is targeting DGNB Gold certification, with geothermal and photovoltaic systems designed to reduce energy consumption and ensure efficient building operations. The development is one of five projects by LBBW Immobilien in Mainz's Zollhafen district.
