Rising Costs Force Steinen Municipality to Increase Outdoor Pool Admission Fees

Soaring expenses are compelling the town of Steinen to raise entry prices at its outdoor swimming pool. On Tuesday, April 28, 2026, the municipal council will vote on a new fee structure for the upcoming season. According to local authorities, sharply higher costs—including operations, staffing, and the contract with a new pool operator—are driving the changes.

Nearly all ticket prices will go up. Adults will now pay €5 for a single-entry ticket, up from €4.50, while children and young people will see prices rise from €3 to €3.50. The evening rate will also increase by 50 cents to €3.50.

The steepest hikes affect multi-entry and season passes: A 10-visit pass for children and concession holders will jump by €5 to €30—the largest percentage increase. Family season tickets will rise by €17 to €165, and adult passes by €8 to €86.

A new tiered early-bird discount system will be introduced, rewarding those who purchase in advance with lower prices. As a one-time gesture, 2025 season pass holders will receive additional discounts to offset past restrictions.

The municipality justifies the adjustments by pointing to a growing deficit in pool operations. Despite rising revenue, expenses have far outpaced income, with a projected shortfall of around €490,000 for 2026. The higher admission fees are intended to help close at least part of that gap.
