The image shows a poster with text and a picture of a group of people. The text reads "If passed, the American Rescue Plan would cut childhood poverty in half," indicating that the poster is advocating for the need to reduce the amount of children living in poverty in the United States. The picture of the people in the picture is likely meant to represent the importance of the plan and its implications.

Hesse's New Fund Puts €14,000 Behind Youth-Led Community Projects

The Hessian Ministry of Labor, Integration, Youth and Social Affairs is launching a fund for young ideas for the first time: "This creates a funding tool that specifically supports the engagement of children and young people and strengthens their active participation in societal processes. The participation of young people makes a vibrant democracy and an inclusive society. When children and young people co-shape their own living environment, they develop self-awareness and a sense of responsibility and thus also significantly contribute to improving their immediate surroundings," said Social Minister Heike Hofmann about the new funding opportunity.

Funding of a total of 14,000 euros

The fund is aimed at young people who want to implement creative and participation-enabling ideas. In particular, projects initiated by children and young people that bring about concrete positive changes are supported - whether through neighborhood actions, beautification measures at meeting points or events and workshops on topics such as children's rights. In the funding year 2025, a total of 14,000 euros are available, which are awarded as flat-rate subsidies of up to 1,000 euros per project. Groups of at least two to three children and young people can apply for support, who implement their projects together with suitable carriers such as support associations, associations, youth associations, foundations, church communities or municipalities.

"The fund for young ideas is an important impetus to encourage young people to raise their voice and take responsibility for their community. Participation is not just a right, but a chance to unfold oneself and one's own ideas and to strengthen social cohesion," said Minister Hofmann further.
