Langgöns: Officers Assaulted and Injured After Dispute
Last night, officers from Gießen-Süd police station responded to an incident in Niederkleen. The callout followed a dispute between a tenant and landlord, during which a 52-year-old man allegedly became violent. While investigating the matter, a female officer spoke with the man, while her colleague questioned other individuals involved. The 52-year-old ignored the officer's instructions and attempted to leave. When she prevented him from doing so and restrained him, he suddenly lashed out. The officer dodged the blows, and her colleague quickly intervened—but the attacker continued striking both officers.
Eventually, the officers had to deploy their batons to subdue the assault. The suspect sustained minor injuries and was taken into custody. He was intoxicated and, after being examined by a doctor, was placed in a police holding cell to sober up. During the altercation, he injured a Gießen-Süd officer in the leg, though the officer was able to remain on duty. The suspect, a German national, now faces investigation for, among other charges, assaulting law enforcement officers in the line of duty.
