Hesse's Minister Mansoori revives industrial jobs with bold economic reforms

Two Years On: Securing Prosperity for Hesse's Future

"I took office just over two years ago with a clear mission: to safeguard and future-proof prosperity in our state," said Mansoori. "Since then, we have worked intensively—engaging closely with businesses, employees, and local governments. Our approach is straightforward: we bring together those who bear responsibility and develop concrete solutions for Hesse."

Working Together for a Strong Hesse

This collaborative effort is already paying off, he noted. Through faster approvals, clearer regulations, and targeted investments, the state government has delivered key stimulus measures. Streamlining building codes and introducing digital procedures have made construction quicker and more affordable. The reformed Public Procurement and Fair Wage Compliance Act has boosted local investment while ensuring fair working conditions. Meanwhile, the Hesse Fund provides tailored support for companies navigating transformation, and the Industrial Package prepares core sectors for future challenges.

"Our goal is to ensure that people in Hesse can live well from their work," Mansoori emphasized. "My guiding principle is to see opportunity where others see only risk." He also acknowledged that many economic policy frameworks are set at the federal and EU levels, where Hesse is actively engaged—whether through the Germany Fund or relief measures for the aviation sector.

Industrial Dialogue and Industrial Package: Strengthening Hesse as a Business Hub

A central focus of his policy statement was industrial strategy. Despite economic headwinds, Hesse remains a powerhouse of industry, with around 720,000 jobs and over €72 billion in annual value added. Yet the industrial sector's share of the economy is declining—a trend he refuses to accept. "Behind these numbers are hardworking people driving innovation every day. They deserve our respect—and our political commitment."

The Industrial Package targets key levers: advancing future technologies, simplifying business relocations, supporting companies through transition, and expanding modern infrastructure. Initiatives include a planned Mobility & Defense Innovation Hub in North Hesse, additional industrial and commercial zones, and a task force to accelerate major investments. "We don't promise simple answers to complex challenges," Mansoori stressed. "But we do promise to develop sustainable solutions—and implement them with determination."

One Year of the Hesse Fund: 8,200 Jobs Secured

The minister also highlighted the Hesse Fund's success since its launch a year ago: over 8,200 jobs preserved, more than 600 new positions created, and around 360 businesses supported. Loans totaling over €150 million have already been approved. "The Hesse Fund proves what's possible when government and industry work as partners," he said. "We step in precisely where financing gaps would otherwise derail promising projects."

Mansoori framed his economic policy firmly within the tradition of the social market economy. "I stand for strong collective bargaining and vibrant worker participation. Social partnership fosters fairness, stability, and innovation." He cited the reform of procurement and fair wage laws as proof that business relief and good working conditions go hand in hand.

Beyond broad strategies, he pointed to tangible improvements in daily life—from faster construction permits and measures against speculative vacancies to waiving fees for master craftsman certifications and investments in energy and grid infrastructure. Unwavering support for industrial jobs, such as those in Baunatal and Marburg, remains a cornerstone of the state government's agenda.

In closing, Mansoori underscored the deep link between economic strength and social cohesion: "A stable democracy needs a thriving economy—and a strong economy builds confidence in the future. Good economic policy amplifies our state's strengths: effective social partnership, worker participation, and equitable prosperity. We want a government that empowers—with honest policies, swift action, and forward-looking optimism. That's how we lay a solid foundation for Hesse's future, always looking ahead."
