Hesse Police Expands LGBTIQ* Liaison Team with New Commissioner Philipp Werner

The Southeast Hesse Police Headquarters has expanded its LGBTIQ* liaison team with the addition of Philipp Werner. The 25-year-old police commissioner will work alongside Police Chief Commissioner Sarah Fuhrländer to support both the public and colleagues. Their role includes offering confidential advice and promoting inclusivity within the force.

Philipp Werner, currently a patrol officer at Maintal police station, will take up his new position in February. He will then be assigned to shift duty at the Hanau police precinct while continuing his liaison responsibilities. His appointment aims to strengthen the team's ability to address issues related to sexual orientation and gender identity.

The liaison officers provide information, counselling, and assistance in criminal cases involving LGBTIQ* matters. They also act as trusted contacts for non-heterosexual colleagues, fostering better understanding within the police force. Werner has emphasised his commitment to sending a clear message of openness, acceptance, and support in his new role. For those seeking help, both Werner and Fuhrländer can be reached via email at **[email protected]**. Fuhrländer is also available by phone at **069 8098-1146**. Additional details about the liaison team are listed on the **Hesse State Police website**.

The expanded team will continue to offer specialised support to LGBTIQ* individuals, both within the police and the wider community. Confidential advice and case assistance remain central to their work, ensuring accessible help for those in need.
