Frankfurt gears up for massive Kurdish Newroz celebration in 2026

Frankfurt is preparing for a large-scale celebration of Newroz, the Kurdish New Year, on March 21, 2026. The event at Rebstockgelände is expected to draw tens of thousands of visitors from Germany and neighbouring countries. Authorities have announced plans to manage the crowds and ensure public safety during the festivities.

In past years, the Newroz festival at Rebstockgelände attracted between 20,000 and 50,000 people. To handle the high number of attendees, organisers and police have implemented several measures. These include increased police presence, controlled entry points, temporary barriers, medical stations, and adjusted traffic arrangements.

With another large turnout anticipated, temporary traffic disruptions are likely around the venue. Frankfurt police will deploy officers early to assist both residents and visitors. Their goal is to minimise inconvenience while maintaining order throughout the event.

The Newroz celebration will bring a significant number of people to Frankfurt's Rebstockgelände. Police and city officials are working to keep the event safe and well-organised. Residents and travellers in the area should expect some delays and follow official guidance.
